Tablet
When Microsoft launched the tablet personal computer concept, back in 2001, little did we know about how fast these devices were going to spread. But what are they exactly? Why would anyone want one and how are they better? Nowadays, anyone knows that a tablet is a portable personal computer with a touch screen. Everyone loves touch screens, don't they? Some of them even use virtual keyboards and may be equipped to recognize handwriting as far as text input is concerned. But the convertible models allow you to use a real keyboard as well. Just like any other computer, this device has an adapter for wireless connections and for local area connection, different software components such as browsers, games and other applications. The hardware components of the tablet are low powered so you may not have an ideal experience if you try using demanding applications. Still, as opposed to the year 2001 when the tablet PC was launched with the Windows operating system, now you can find tablets with different other operating systems as well. It usually comes with a special edition of Windows already installed and it can run almost all known Windows applications.
One can also use a mouse and a regular keyboard with the tablet. Also, it is built to provide the power of a regular notebook. Actually, it is nothing more than the successful cross between a notebook and a personal digital assistant. The best thing about it is that it’s portable and it weighs usually less than a kilo. The tablet PC is usually about 30 cm long and 22 cm wide. Its screen has a 25 cm diagonal and it is a color screen with control buttons on the edge. Slate models are less thick than convertible models, since the latter ones are designed so as to be able to use regular keyboards with them. You can write directly on the screen with the stylus and you can verbally dictate as well. The words are then converted into written text.
It’s hard to choose between a tablet and an iPad , but many people believe the first one is way better because it has a better screen resolution, it allows multitasking- which is great because there are many complicated things you need to do where it would take a lot of time if you only did one thing at a time. Also, the tablet has flash support, like Adobe Flash and it’s better for photo editing. Oh, and you can’t use a real keyboard with an iPad. But before you make your choice, you may want to surf the net for a while, read articles on different products, check out what the best brands are, compare prices and then decide what it is that you really need and purchase it.
