Plasma TV
Everywhere you turn today there are commercials about new television sets. New technologies are always being though and rethought. One of the newer and more common TVs on the market today is the plasma TV. A plasma TV gained its name because of the display. In the plasma TV display the pixels for the picture rely on tiny plasma cells. A panel on one of these television sets is characterized by millions of miniature cells in particular compartment type space between the two panels of glass. The compartment type space holds a special mixture generally containing a diminutive amount of mercury and noble gases. The process that goes on within a plasma TV is actually the same process that is seen when you turn on a fluorescent light bulb. When a voltage current is dispersed over the contained mercury it emits the noble gases which then turn into the plasma that makes our plasma TV. The plasma picture is bright and has a wide range of color. It gives far more crisp and clear definition to a picture than the other standard television sets.
When looking at a plasma TV screen you will notice that the black is black, the green is green and the hot pinks are hot pink. This display boasts the black of the black as far as the color of the television screen is concerned. The plasma has many advantages. Not only does this particular model of television boast a slim profile but it can be mounted on your wall. This allows for a more theater like experience when viewing in your home. There is also next to no motion blur. This television system has very high refresh rates which allows for you to not have to see a blip of color behind your favorite running back as he sprints into the end zone for a touchdown. One of the biggest disadvantages to this system is the in screen retention. When your screen cuts to a commercial or you turn it off you may actually continue to see the burnt in images of the picture that you were just watching. Another major disadvantage is that over time the plasma TV will lose its brightness. Newer models of the plasma televisions can offer more than one hundred thousand hours of viewing time before the gradual decline will begin. That is definitely a lot of TV time.
When purchasing a television do a little research to find out which one may be for you. Newer models of different types of televisions can offer longer viewing times as well as crisper and clearer pictures. Prices also vary a great deal depending on the quality of the television that you are purchasing. Sometimes buying an older model isn’t all that bad. It may be missing a few pixels but may still have a better picture than what you are watching now.
