Home Theater
In the past, having a Home Theater was thought to be only for the rich, but modern technology advancements have brought the prices of equipment low enough that most people can enjoy this excellent way to view movies. A Home Theater, also known as a home cinema, is exactly what a person would expect from the name - it is a way to enjoy the experience of going to the cinema to see a film without ever needing to leave the home. This can be accomplished in several different ways.
The most common form of home cinema is using a large screen television to watch movies. The screens replicate the large size of screens found in the movie theaters, with exceptional video quality. For most setups, a better audio system is connected to the television to enjoy the same surround sound that is presented in a theater. This method can still be expensive as the higher end large screen televisions can come with a hefty price tag. In addition, specialty options could include using a Blu-ray player instead of a DVD player for the ultimate in picture quality. However, as new technologies emerge, the prices of these television sets continue to drop. By creating the right audio system and environment, nearly any person can transform a room into a Home Theater.
Another method of creating a Home Theater is to use a projector. The projector works in the same way as the projectors in typical cinemas. The images are projected on a screen or blank wall. This is a much cheaper option for a home cinema as the projectors and screens often cost just a fraction of the large screen televisions. However, there is some difference as the video quality does encounter some distortion as it grows in size. For many people, this is the best option to start with to see if the pleasure attained from a home cinema is equal to the cost of buying a professional setup. The projectors are best used in a large room to give enough space for adequate projection of the video image.
On the bleeding edge of technology is yet another way to establish a home cinema in the comfort of a person’s residence. There are now home cinema computers that give a user the combination of a personal computer with the advantages of a Home Theater. The audio card in the computer provides exceptional sound and there are media software options that allow the user to play media of all types, including movies and music. Because the resolution on computer monitors is naturally higher than that found on a television, the video quality when viewing a movie will be noticeably higher using the home cinema personal computer.
